went looking on youtube for the third man theme, as it's a good song, and the opening credits it's set to are pretty nice! and it's still a good song.

so as of march 20something, i'll be veering off the steady paved road of big studio work to bump along the unkempt dirt independent contracter trail. i don't know if its going to work, but i do know this is probably the only time i'll get to try it out. The hardest part is going to be working from home until i can afford some sort of studio space of my own. I'm not great at working from home, and it's going to take some discipline. I'm hoping some sort of schedule will come together and keep me productive and sane, but in reality i give myself about a week until i just spend whole days doing this:

if you're alright with a lot naked people, Ryan McGinley's photographs are really nice to look at, especially the new series in caves.

This is an older performance, last year i think, but i got in the mood today at work and discovered they allow embedding now, so here it is. still sounds really great.

vimy ridge memorial [Nov. 12th, 2009|01:29 pm]
how the heck did i never hear about this thing before?

its a canadian memorial in france designed by Walter S. Allward/ they even planted canadian trees and stuff in the surrounding forest. next trip to france, i'm going to this thing for sure.
it should be on our money or something!

more pictures and info at the post i stole all these from:

also, Moranne and me went to see the pixies on friday. i'd never seen them live before and they were so so good. they played doolittle all the way through, plus a couple other things. i think it was one of the best sounding shows i've ever been to. last night on the documentary channel they were playing this thing about them where they interview all these other bands about the influence. it's really good! its all on youtube, it turns out. here's part 1.

while i was over in germany, i heard this Brian Eno song at David's place and it's been stuck in my head. maybe it really fit the mood of berlin in the fall or some crap like that.

my friend drew is an illustrator/artist in all the complexity that double title carries with it.
he's recently put up all his commercial work on a blog, and it's a goldmine.
